We accept patients who live in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Humberston, Waltham, and New Waltham. If you are unsure if you live within our catchment area you can contact us by email on nel.b81091-patients@nhs.net or call reception on 01472 246100.

Registering with the practice

If you live in our area, you can sign up to be our patient. We use a simple online tool from the NHS Register with a GP to make joining us easy.

To start, just fill out a short form online. You don’t need to show proof of where you live, ID, or an NHS number.

This tool is made by the NHS, so your information stays safe. It helps us get your details faster and makes signing up easier for you.

If you want, you can still get a paper form at our reception.

Once we get your form, our team will help you finish signing up. We’ll give you a contract with our practice rules and offer health checks for adults and kids 12 and up. If you want to use our online services, we’ll need your ID and proof of address.

Sometimes, there’s a waiting list if you already have a GP in the area, but we’ll try to help as soon as possible if you don’t have a local GP.

We’ll start looking after your health once your registration is fully finished, not just when you send the form.

You can still collect a paper registration form by visiting our reception desk.

When you register, it’s helpful to have your NHS number. You can use the NHS website to find your NHS number.

If you are wanting to register a new baby, we also ask you to complete the relevant forms. We will need the baby’s NHS number which should have been provided to you by the hospital where the baby was delivered.

Temporary registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. If you need treatment for more than 14 days, you will need to register with the GP surgery on a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Many patients find they need to see an emergency doctor when away from home for medications – in these cases it is always worthwhile contacting your own GP practice first as electronic prescribing services (EPS) allows you to nominate a pharmacy of choice anywhere in England.

Further information about registering for emergency or temporary care can be found on the NHS website.
